May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. It is a time to recognize the contributions and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States.

Sadly, however, many of these contributions are not recognized. Asian American and Pacific Islanders have contributed to many areas of our lives, including medicine, science, technology, and media. Asian American and Pacific Islanders have also been trailblazing activists fighting for civil rights and labor rights, even protesting alongside Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X and Cesar Chavez.

One way to tear down walls and sow peace and unity is to become more educated. Visit Ten Influential Asian American and Pacific Islander Activists and Eight Groundbreaking Contributions by Asian Americans Through History to learn more about the influences of Asian American and Pacific Islanders in the United States.
